+Perfect location with breathtaking view. Quality service and hospitality. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The restaurant is also very good and the breakfast buffet simply breathtaking. The superior sea view room is very spacious with top bedding that offers you a peaceful sleep. In summary, a perfect stay in every way that allowed us to recharge the batteries and completely relax.

June 2, 2023The place is very beautiful, the restaurant with the terrace offering a view facing the sea. On the other hand, for a 5 star, you have to let it go. The manager is not very attentive (room not ready on time when there is a reservation at the spa and it is up to the client to apologize to the spa for this delay, garbage cans near the swimming pool which has been overflowing for 3 days, no open umbrellas on the terrace while the sun is beating down). During Check-out a family asked to see the manager for a possible theft of luxury items in their room. The latter, not very courageous, never saw fit to move and left his receptionists to fend for themselves. In short, a little coaching wouldn't hurt. For the rest it is comfortable and the staff is generally professional.

However, a few details that make us far from a service worthy of a 5 star, and it's a shame considering the price: no umbrella available at reception (we had one, but customers are gone with...); absolutely nothing to snack on with 2 cocktails at 14 euros each (even a PMU bar gives at least peanuts); no trash cans in the bedroom toilets (not the most practical for us women on certain days of the month); paid parking - 16 euros per day, even in low season; a new bathrobe requested twice, and placed hastily on the bed, and other anecdotes of this type... Things that are absolutely nothing serious, but which are not at all up to such a range of hotel. Damage !

+Hotel ideally located, free drink on arrival, parking (on reservation), valet porter. We had accepted the proposal to have a room with 2 single beds for the girls rather than a double sofa bed. But on arrival, the exchange had not been made. Fortunately, quickly repaired: room on the top floor (6th) with a very beautiful view over the rooftops of La Rochelle, the towers, the Ferris wheel, the sea. Very comfortable beds. Bathroom with bath + shower. Very good breakfast.
-The shower flow was weak. No towel rack, soap dish in the toilet (we were sitting next to the sink). Not replenished with toilet paper the second night. September 22, 2022Room reserved by a concierge, we had a cold water problem in one of the rooms. The receptionist at the reception upgraded us to a suite on the upper floors in compensation with a view of the rooftops of La Rochelle. I have never seen such a prestigious hotel, which makes a point of honor in the quality of its services, smiling bartenders and a very good atmosphere. We stayed at the Hotel Domaine des Etangs for a getaway of a few days and had a rich and relaxing experience. We were impressed by the idyllic setting and the spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast served in the morning was delicious and varied, and we also enjoyed the activities on offer, such as bike rides and cooking classes. Another thing we appreciated was the staff, always available to answer all our questions and help us when needed. +Magnificent castle, well equipped, ideal for 3 days of absolute relaxation. Nice activities: swimming pools, spa, boat, bike... To top it all off, a top-notch restaurant with sommeliers and a bartender with excellent advice!

+The Domaine des Étangs is magical, everything is very beautiful, perfectly equipped for young and old. It is not a place only for children but a place where you can spend a relaxing holiday even with small children. The starred restaurant, the spa, the fitness, the artistic works, the sports and cultural activities as well as the extent of the places make that people alone or in couple also spend very good moments.
-For a hotel of this standard, the breakfast could be improved, with more homemade and local products. During our stay, which ended in full confinement, the service offer (bar, catering, etc.) was also very limited.

+Magnificent and vast estate, benefiting from very beautiful buildings and top-of-the-range communal facilities (swimming pools, sports halls). Very correct restoration even if not always to my taste in the gastro (too English). Very nice sports lessons offered during this summer period.
-During a heat wave, offering a suite in the chateau with poor portable air conditioning evacuating through the (open) window to cool it is very average. Also, the game room in the attic feels like you're being walked on if it's used while you're trying to sleep right below it. In short, the suites in the annex buildings (tested over the last 2 days) are much more comfortable and fresh.

+Perfect stay in a very beautiful and above all very well maintained castle. The green nature that surrounds the hotel is splendid, it is possible to take pleasant walks or bike rides. All facilities are in perfect condition. There is an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor swimming pool which is heated and available 24 hours a day. The breakfast is extraordinary in its variety and fresh products. The welcome is pleasant and the staff very friendly. You need to plan at least two or three days to enjoy this enchanting setting in a magnificent green setting.
-Everything was perfect. If I have one criticism to make it would be that I had to carry my suitcase from the parking lot to my room alone. But I didn't ask for help...

-the catastrophic welcome 1 hour of waiting to get our room then no one who gives us instructions on how the hotel works somewhat average air conditioning in the room no real bar for an aperitif in the evening we had to look for someone someone who was willing to prepare a drink for us and then looked for a place to sit outside, in short, not what we expect from a five star in terms of service, we felt that day like a let go or an understaffed team who did not couldn't cope with the outdoor swimming pool a bit far away and aging seats, no staff to keep the place in good order for the rest, let's be honest, it was a very nice stay
