The public car park just opposite is very practical but be careful not to want to park there in the afternoon because it is full (lens people go to the beach) you have to come back at the end of the afternoon, beginning of the evening. We had an absolutely magical stay at the Hôtel de Toiras! Our room was very comfortable and delicately decorated, offering a breathtaking view of the marina and the Vauban forts. The manager is not very attentive (room not ready on time when there is a reservation at the spa and it is up to the client to apologize to the spa for this delay, garbage cans near the swimming pool which has been overflowing for 3 days, no open umbrellas on the terrace while the sun is beating down). During Check-out a family asked to see the manager for a possible theft of luxury items in their room. The latter, not very courageous, never saw fit to move and left his receptionists to fend for themselves. In short, a little coaching wouldn't hurt. For the rest it is comfortable and the staff is generally professional.

However, a few details that make us far from a service worthy of a 5 star, and it's a shame considering the price: no umbrella available at reception (we had one, but customers are gone with...); absolutely nothing to snack on with 2 cocktails at 14 euros each (even a PMU bar gives at least peanuts); no trash cans in the bedroom toilets (not the most practical for us women on certain days of the month); paid parking - 16 euros per day, even in low season; a new bathrobe requested twice, and placed hastily on the bed, and other anecdotes of this type... Things that are absolutely nothing serious, but which are not at all up to such a range of hotel. Damage !

We clearly feel in a 3 star and certainly not a 4 ...

On the other hand, there are green air conditioning units, so make the case by saying that it's green not to have one, blah. The bedding was average, having the bedroom separate and isolated from the terrace is not bad. We unfortunately broke a bottle of beer when we opened the fridge, the manager heard about it and charged us!! Note that we had taken jars for one evening and given the price we expected anything but something tasteless! Same halftone for 10 euros per night we had the parking lot… considering the price of the rooms good….

-A stifling heat the first evening, following the heat wave, impossible to ventilate the mezzanine. An opening in the roof would be welcome to allow air to circulate. Because there is no air conditioning (which is very good by the way!). The fact of not being able to reserve bicycles at the hotel. You have to go to the village 15 minutes on foot, no big deal, but it could be a plus. A polite and very professional welcome, but with a lack of human warmth. Very few restaurants and life in general in this village. La Flotte or Saint-Martin are livelier.

January 18, 2023Hello, We have booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children, in a 4* hotel: Les Vignes de La Chapelle: 5, rue de la Manne - 17740 Sainte Marie de Ré - France. We made our reservation on the basis that the hotel was 4* and boasted family rooms. We were very disappointed to find when we arrived that the hotel was not air-conditioned, that there was only 8 minutes of hot water (37°) without pressure for 4. The bedding is much less comfortable than in 2 or 3* hotels. Access to the mezzanine is dangerous for children, and the safety barrier at the top is very impractical and seems unreliable! The Hotel boasts on its site a renovation in 2019, for the rooms are not soundproof (we hear the neighbors) and are not protected from the heat either. The hotelier's response: you have to close the shutters all day (value of the room: more than €350 per night). A parasol is missing at the swimming pool: the hotelier's response: it is broken... Seeing my pregnant wife and the children suffering from the heat and after 3 sleepless nights, we decided to leave the hotel. The hotelier was content to make us pay for the check-out without the slightest commercial gesture (7 nights paid and only 3 used). We strongly advise against this hotel for a young family. -Cold reception. Lots of strict rules and the fact that everything is timed: the shower time (8 minutes of hot water), the breakfast schedule, the reception closing between 11:30 am and 15 pm. We asked to have access to the toilets (after 4 hours of travel), this was refused to us because we arrived before check-in time (around noon). This is not the standards of a 4 star hotel. It's a shame because the location is very beautiful and quiet but difficult to relax in these conditions. To respond to your comments, you have the wrong customers, we are not smokers, we did not put on music and we left at the time requested for check out. Definitely, hospitality and friendliness is not your strong point.

When booking, we were sold a jacuzzi, heated swimming pool and we only found a tiny jacuzzi which seems to come out of the boncoin, at 20€ for access! For the swimming pool we were told that ultimately it will not be heated, but that we can access it if we wish! The water was 14 degrees! The breakfast buffet is very limited, one croissant per person already on the table... On bail for the carbon impact, savings on all floors to the detriment of the customer. Damage.

September 30, 2022Excellent location next to the vineyards, comfortable rooms, however the reception is very cold and everything is timed (the exact time at which we wish to have breakfast must be given on arrival, the time of the shower, a schedule fixed reception opening). Everything is extremely strict and regulated that we found it difficult to relax. We didn't even have the right to access the toilets after 4 hours of travel because we arrived before check-in time. We couldn't drop off the suitcases either for covid reasons, except it was possible just to drop off the suitcases and wash our hands right after. Inconsistency of the rules between the ban on dropping off your suitcases but we passed the only same sugar bowl in the morning at breakfast between the customers. This is not the rules of a 4 star hotel, it's a shame because the location is amazing.

Nevertheless, I remained a little on my guard for the quality of the service of the staff (perhaps a little too young and inexperienced for this type of establishment: the young woman at the reception very friendly but forgets most of the related information at the swimming pool, parking, etc. I had to travel several times to ask for this information), and above all paid parking (€10 per night) unacceptable to me when you are already paying €410 per night for the room and there are no other possibilities to park elsewhere…

The two masseurs were very professional and attentive, the setting is very pleasant (cabin, music) and the massage was relaxing at the top. It seems to me that at this level of standing we could demand calm. No more welcome booklet in the rooms or daily information sheet for the first time we plan to change recipient next year

Since the 1990s, so many novelties and comforts have been brought to our delight, the exceptional site of this part of the Ile de Ré deserving of such developments, and the island itself constituting a remarkable preservation of space for a serenity guaranteed! And, icing on the cake, if I may ;-), the restaurant brings us so much joy with its ever more inventive menus 🙂! And an additional BIG THANK YOU to the staff who, despite the sometimes thankless tasks, display remarkable friendliness, friendliness and benevolence, both at the hotel and on the thalassotherapy side!!

May 10, 2022Regarding the hotel, we pay above all for the location, for a 4-star hotel we expect better, the rooms are outdated, the furniture is scratched or even with holes, the sea view on the ground floor has to imagine the sea bathroom blah blah aging too ... Every year I hear renovations (it's not the first time for me in this establishment), the thalassotherapy side is not bad, very disappointed with the pool which is not very hot !!! Compared to my visit in September, it's cold! Fortunately there is the hammam... Restriction or not, we pay a high price for a service!!!! And then, according to other spa guests met on site in other thalassotherapy centers, the water in the pools is hot, so why not on the Ile de Ré? Fortunately, the Atalante restaurant saved my stay! Delicious as usual! I come almost every year and every year the same observation ... The rooms are not level!

May 7, 2022Nice place, you feel good there. The atmosphere is warm. The rooms are cozy and tastefully decorated. The copious and varied breakfasts, but a bit expensive (26€/pers). Efficient room service. The dishes are well presented, quality products, however sometimes insufficient seasoning. Different menu every day. For the balneo part, the treatments are of high quality and practiced by good professionals and the infrastructures at the top.
