It was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to move around and relax. Also, the fridge in the room was very handy for storing drinks and snacks.
I also enjoyed the coffees offered on site. It was nice to be able to have a cup of coffee in the morning or after a long day at work without having to leave the hotel. It made my stay more comfortable and convenient.
All in all, I highly recommend the Mercure Caen Center Port De Plaisance hotel. The size of the room, the fridge and the cafes on site made my stay very pleasant and comfortable. I will not hesitate to return there during my next trips to Caen.

November 10, 2022 at 3:52 amWe enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was one of the renovated ones and they are very nice. Also with a view of the canal. The bedding is comfortable.
2 flats during our stay:
1) Cleaning in the bathroom not done between 2 nights even if the towels have been changed and the bed has been redone
2) Convenient downtown location but not great with young people on weekends. Between fights and karaoke at 5 a.m.
2 nights shortened for us, goodbye to sleep late, really a shame

No access to the radio via the TV.

Breakfast with choice and good quality.
Quality and responsive room service.
Very spacious shower room.
I put this note because as in many hotels, the rooms are very poorly insulated from the inside and the outside (window lets in all the noise from the street and the walls and doors let in all the noise from adjoining rooms and the hallway like the doors that keep slamming). It's frustrating for a Mercure with nice rooms and good service.

+Reception staff of the hotel very pleasant and at our service and considerate. Spacious and clean room.
Hotel well located, we had everything nearby, on foot, which was very pleasant.
-Really a pity that breakfast is not served in the rooms because we had to go down to reception to pick it up and like 2 trays…. We had come from another cheaper hotel and breakfast was served at the door of our room (moreover, oversights on what we had asked for breakfast.)
The choice of evening menus is not very limited and a salad or a small evening dish would have been welcome (like an omelette or croque monsieur or a small mixed salad…)
Noise from the road in the morning, too bad.

-Request for a view of the port + special wedding anniversary request, result, obligation to close the curtains because view of windows + no effort regarding the special request. Very dark and sad room. Water leak at the level of the shower tray which crosses and soaks the carpet in the room. Breakfast in the room very expensive for what is offered (17€/person, I had to take a paper cup to drink my hot drink, not a little jam or even honey, mini pain au chocolat, let's say juice squeezed orange, nothing more than bottled juice…)
More than 180€ for that, it's shameful. We had been there before, it was exceptional. Today I wanted to surprise my husband and I just want to cry.

The room was worth 20€ less than the Mercure in Cherbourg, while the latter is well above that of Caen.
The bedding is correct, but the rest is rather a 2 star and not 4.

– old bedding, I repeat myself but not worthy of a mercury
-Not at all clean: on our arrival, very nauseating smell: mixture of very poorly maintained carpet and a soiled and full child's diaper, left in the room by previous customers! When I brought the “package” back to reception to report it, I was just told thank you and the person threw the smelly diaper in the reception bin under his desk in the lobby! …but then in a very serene way and not surprised or embarrassed and just resumed what she was doing …I was overwhelmed by the lack of consideration and professionalism towards me when I still brought her a dirty diaper and I tell him that the room is clearly not clean. Once again, we are not in a campsite but in a so-called mercury!
– The rooms were full of dust everywhere and piles of hair on the furniture, in the bathroom, on the floor …
– The killer whale I pulled the blanket off the bed, all the sheets and the mattress protector came with the blanket, so I had to completely redo the bed…
I didn't make any complaints or scandals because it's not my habit…but with hindsight I should have surely given the price of the room.
– not enough space for breakfast, many customers forced to eat in the hotel lobby (but apparently this is normal in the operation of the hotel given that cutlery was provided everywhere in the lobby..?)

The staff is charming but probably insufficient in number and so they do what they can, it's a shame for Mercury's image
