A very nice hotel served by mediocre catering

+Beautiful establishment, ideally located, facing the harbor basins, a stone's throw from a starred restaurant, shops, the city of the sea and the umbrella factory. Very nice room with a view of the harbour, spacious, very well equipped with separate toilets, safe, large dressing room. Despite the storm, very good sound comfort. Particularly friendly reception staff.

-Very disappointed with the whole catering part. 1st: two mornings out of three, and one hour before the end of the service, several dishes were missing from the breakfast buffet (scrambled eggs, salmon, ham) with the impossibility of obtaining any... (when we consider the price of the said breakfast is a shame) 2nd: We had invited our children to the hotel restaurant, and here too we were disappointed: between the indigence of the starters (two small asparagus and three tiny langoustine tails for 10 euros), and the mediocrity of the sauerkraut from the sea (what was supposed to be scallops looked suspiciously like cylinders of a rubbery substance, the mussels were particularly dried out), this not being at all in keeping with the standing of the Mercury. 3rd: icing on the cake, we wanted to have a digestive at the bar after this sad meal, and there was a double problem: First there was no more Cointreau (a liqueur that was not too exotic and difficult to find) then the menu from the bar offered coffees and Irish Whisky, but it was not possible to have an Irish-coffee served to me .... This is all the same a real failure in the organization of the catering part of this hotel by otherwise very pleasant. We will probably return to the hotel during our next stays in Cherbourg, on the other hand we will now avoid frequenting the restaurant and the bar.

For a very big personal event I booked a room for two people (I wanted to book a room with a double bed) I found myself with a room with two single beds with the only explanation "we must not trust to the photos”… Then, we still enjoyed the room with decent bedding and a nice bathroom, which justifies the only star I give them. Nevertheless, the staff of this establishment keeps thinking that it is reserved for a category of people (CSP+) and I did not feel at all welcomed and in my place.. this must be reviewed! The room is very nice and clean. Flat concerning the restoration whether it is dinner or breakfast which is not at the level expected of a 4 star. For example: cutlery already used at breakfast, orange juice said to be in a hurry but we are more on 1/3 fresh 2/3 industrial, shortage of many products and location in an adjoining room because too many people with office tables where the seat of the chairs is much too high in relation to the table.

-At breakfast the scrambled eggs bacon...are the opposite of the rest of the buffet. You have to go around the room to find everything. Kettle in the room otherwise you have to get the courtesy tray at the reception. Apart from these details everything was perfect.

A big thank you to the receptionist whom I had on the phone the evening of my reservation, it was a last minute reservation and he still managed to find us the perfect room for our visit to the region. Large and spacious room, very comfortable bedding, very nice bathroom. A very nice super view of the port, especially at night with public lighting. (just a note: a corner of wallpaper is peeling off at the foot of the left bed, a little glue and it will be fixed) Very pleasant restaurant and quite romantic for my taste, enough to have a good time alone with his wife. Breakfast very correct and in the same spirit as the restaurant. The hotel in general is really magical moreover in this period illuminations and decoration were present at the rendezvous. Hotel very well located, quiet, bright, clean. Nice view from our room, free and secure parking. Remarkable friendliness and efficiency of the staff everywhere (reception, bar, restaurant). Good breakfast, varied, well presented and fresh. Well equipped and clean gym. Our only regret being the opening time on weekends, namely 9am. Area for improvement: floor mats and towels could be made available. Overall an excellent experience.

I recently stayed at the Mercure Cherbourg Center Port hotel and I must say that I was very pleased with my experience. First, the comfort of the room was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious which allowed me to relax and rest after a long day of work. Also, the view from my room was amazing. I was able to admire the port and the boats that were moored there. It was truly a magnificent sight which added to my overall experience. The breakfast was also excellent. There was a wide variety of choices, from pastries to fresh fruit to scrambled eggs. Everything was fresh and delicious, which gave me the energy to start my day off right. All in all, I highly recommend the Mercure Cherbourg Center Port hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
